Bible study for ordinary people

Study the Bible without getting lost.

BibleWorms helps ordinary people slow down, understand Scripture, and live what they learn. Start simple with GOAL. Use EDGE when you need a more thorough study.

GOAL Study
Simple, not shallow.

Read slowly. Respond honestly.

Four questions that move from Scripture to real life.

GGod — What does this show me about God?
OOthers — What does this show me about people?
AAlign — Where do I need to align with truth?
LLive it out — What step will I take?

Set a GOAL.

Use EDGE when the passage needs more careful attention.

Start here

The Bible is for you.

You do not have to be a Bible expert to begin. BibleWorms gives you a gentle path for reading, noticing, understanding, and responding.

Slow down.

Many people read quickly, feel confused, and quit. Bible study often begins by reading less but noticing more.

Listen first.

Before we ask, “What does this mean to me?” we ask, “What is God saying in this passage?”

Respond faithfully.

The goal is not to finish a worksheet. The goal is changed belief and changed life before God.

Two paths. One purpose.

GOAL is simple. EDGE is thorough. Both are transformational.

The difference is not shallow versus deep. GOAL can go very deep when it leads to real faith and obedience. EDGE is more thorough because it pays closer attention to words, context, culture, literary form, structure, and meaning.

Primary path

GOAL

The simple study method. Use GOAL first. It is direct, memorable, and built for daily reading, groups, families, and new believers.

  • Best for regular Bible reading
  • Moves quickly toward faithful response
  • Simple enough to repeat often

Thorough path

EDGE

The careful study method. Use EDGE when a passage needs slower attention, fuller observation, word study, background, or teaching preparation.

  • Best for confusing or often-misused passages
  • Helps with context, culture, and words
  • Still ends in personal response

The simple study method

Start with GOAL.

GOAL is not shallow. It is simple and direct. If it helps you trust God, repent honestly, forgive someone, serve a neighbor, pray with faith, or change direction, it has done serious spiritual work.

G

God

What does this passage show me about God?

Start with God before you start with yourself. What does this passage show about his character, promises, commands, warnings, mercy, holiness, power, love, or purpose? How does it point toward Jesus?

O

Others

What does this passage show me about people?

Scripture tells the truth about human beings. What does this show about our desires, fears, sins, weakness, faith, foolishness, wisdom, need, or hope?

A

Align

Where do I need to align with God’s truth?

What belief needs to change? What lie have I been believing? What desire, habit, attitude, or way of thinking needs to be brought into line with God’s Word?

L

Live it out

What is one faithful step I can take?

Make it concrete. What will you do today or this week? Who needs to be loved, forgiven, served, encouraged, or contacted? What prayer should you pray?

The thorough study method

Use EDGE when the passage needs closer attention.

EDGE helps you slow down to observe, investigate, gather meaning, and respond. It is more thorough than GOAL, but it has the same purpose: changed belief and changed life.

A loving warning

EDGE is a helpful tool, but more thorough study does not automatically mean more faithful living. It is possible to keep learning while avoiding the truth God has already made clear.

Do not use EDGE to delay obedience. If God’s Word has already shown you the next faithful step, take it. The goal is not to master a method. The goal is to be formed by the Word of God.
